How to post to social media from ChatGPT

ChatGPT now calls custom MCP servers as plugins. Add Hey Tasky once and you can ask ChatGPT to turn a conversation into drafts or scheduled posts on the accounts in your workspace.

Setup

Connect ChatGPT in 4 steps

You need a Hey Tasky workspace with at least one social account connected. Connect X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Mastodon, or another network in Hey Tasky first, so ChatGPT has somewhere to post.

  1. Check your plan

OpenAI's help center lists full MCP access, including actions that create things like posts, for Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspaces. On personal Plus and Pro accounts, some people can only add read-only plugins or must first turn on Developer mode under Settings, Security. Free accounts can't add custom MCP servers.

  2. Add a custom MCP server

Go to chatgpt.com/plugins, click the plus button, and choose "Add custom MCP server" (some accounts show "Create MCP App"). On a workspace plan, an admin may need to do this under Workspace settings, Apps, Create.

  3. Point it at Hey Tasky

Name it Hey Tasky and paste the server URL. For authentication choose OAuth. Tick "I understand and want to continue", then "Create as a plugin".

  4. Sign in and use it

Sign in to Hey Tasky when ChatGPT asks and approve access. In any chat, type @, pick Hey Tasky, and ask which accounts it can post to.

  • "@Hey Tasky what's on my calendar for next week?"
Capabilities

What ChatGPT can do in Hey Tasky

These are the tools Hey Tasky's MCP server gives ChatGPT. Ask for a draft when you want to read a post before it goes out; a scheduled post publishes on its own at the time you set.

list_channels
Lists the accounts connected to your workspace, with the ids the agent needs to target them.
list_social_sets
Lists your social sets, such as one brand across X and Threads, so you can say "post this to my text list".
create_post
Saves a draft you review and schedule later in Hey Tasky. Nothing is published.
schedule_post
Schedules a post to one or more channels at an exact time. Hey Tasky publishes it automatically.
get_queue
Reads what is scheduled, published, or failed.
get_post_results
Returns impressions, likes, replies, reposts, and quotes for published posts, where the network reports them.
list_replies
Pulls replies to your posts, sorted into leads, questions, and praise.
get_best_times
Suggests weekday and hour slots from how your posts performed over the last 90 days.
get_account
Confirms which workspace and timezone the agent is working in.
Good to know

Before you rely on it

  • Ask for drafts until you trust the setup. A draft waits in Hey Tasky for you; a scheduled post publishes on its own at the time you set.
  • ChatGPT asks you to confirm actions that change things, such as scheduling a post, before it runs them.
  • MCP plugins work in ChatGPT on the web. OpenAI's help center says they don't run in the mobile apps.
  • ChatGPT has no field for custom headers, so use OAuth sign-in rather than an API key.
FAQ

ChatGPT and Hey Tasky questions

Why does ChatGPT only let Hey Tasky read, not post?

Your plan or workspace limits plugins to read actions. OpenAI lists write actions for Business, Enterprise, and Edu. On a personal account, check whether Developer mode is offered under Settings, Security.

Does it work in the ChatGPT phone app?

Not today. OpenAI's help center says MCP plugins run in ChatGPT on the web.

Can ChatGPT post on its own?

Only when you ask it to schedule, and ChatGPT asks you to confirm first by default. Drafts never publish until you schedule them.

Can my ChatGPT dot use Hey Tasky?

A dot uses the supported plugins installed on your ChatGPT account. OpenAI hasn't said whether custom MCP plugins count, so if Hey Tasky doesn't appear in your dot's plugins, use it from a regular ChatGPT chat.
