How to post to social media from OpenClaw

OpenClaw runs around the clock and answers you on the chat apps you already use. Give it Hey Tasky and it can keep your social calendar moving: drafts when you ask, scheduled posts at the right time, and a report on what landed.

Setup

Connect OpenClaw in 4 steps

You need a Hey Tasky workspace with at least one social account connected. Connect X, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Mastodon, or another network in Hey Tasky first, so OpenClaw has somewhere to post.

  1. Add the Hey Tasky server

The mcp commands need the local Gateway stopped. With the Gateway stopped, run:

openclaw mcp add heytasky --url https://mcp.heytasky.com/mcp --transport streamable-http --auth oauth
  2. Sign in to Hey Tasky

Run the login command. OpenClaw prints a link: open it, sign in to Hey Tasky, and approve. On a headless server, finish with openclaw mcp login heytasky --code followed by the code you are given.

    openclaw mcp login heytasky
  3. Check the connection

Probe the server, then restart the Gateway.

    openclaw mcp doctor heytasky --probe
  4. Ask from your usual chat

Message OpenClaw wherever you talk to it and ask which Hey Tasky accounts it can post to.

Capabilities

What OpenClaw can do in Hey Tasky

These are the tools Hey Tasky's MCP server gives OpenClaw. Ask for a draft when you want to read a post before it goes out; a scheduled post publishes on its own at the time you set.

list_channels
Lists the accounts connected to your workspace, with the ids the agent needs to target them.
list_social_sets
Lists your social sets, such as one brand across X and Threads, so you can say "post this to my text list".
create_post
Saves a draft you review and schedule later in Hey Tasky. Nothing is published.
schedule_post
Schedules a post to one or more channels at an exact time. Hey Tasky publishes it automatically.
get_queue
Reads what is scheduled, published, or failed.
get_post_results
Returns impressions, likes, replies, reposts, and quotes for published posts, where the network reports them.
list_replies
Pulls replies to your posts, sorted into leads, questions, and praise.
get_best_times
Suggests weekday and hour slots from how your posts performed over the last 90 days.
get_account
Confirms which workspace and timezone the agent is working in.
Good to know

Before you rely on it

  • Ask for drafts until you trust the setup. A draft waits in Hey Tasky for you; a scheduled post publishes on its own at the time you set.
  • Always set the transport to streamable-http. If you leave it out, OpenClaw falls back to SSE.
  • Prefer a key? Use --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" and drop --auth oauth: OpenClaw ignores a static Authorization header while OAuth is on. Create an API key in Hey Tasky under Settings, Developers. Treat it like a password: anyone with the key can post to your workspace.
  • Rather click than type? Add it in the Control UI under Settings, MCP, Add server, with transport Streamable HTTP.
FAQ

OpenClaw and Hey Tasky questions

Is this the same as Clawdbot or Moltbot?

Yes. OpenClaw was previously called Clawdbot and then Moltbot. The MCP setup above is for current OpenClaw releases.

Can OpenClaw post on a schedule without me?

Hey Tasky does the publishing. When OpenClaw schedules a post, Hey Tasky publishes it at that time even if your OpenClaw machine is off.

Do I still need OpenClaw skills?

No. The MCP server gives OpenClaw the Hey Tasky tools directly. Skills are optional for teaching it your posting style.
